What to watch out for
Multi-page TIFFs
A scanned document can hold many pages in one TIFF. We export the first page and tell you when there were more. For a multi-page document, a PDF is usually the better destination.
You are trading quality for reach
TIFF is often uncompressed or losslessly compressed. JPG is lossy. For archival scans, keep the TIFF and treat the JPG as the shareable copy.
Unusual TIFF variants
TIFF is a famously loose format with many compression schemes. Most common variants decode cleanly; anything exotic gets a clear error instead of a corrupted image.
Frequently asked questions
Why will nothing open my TIFF file?
TIFF is a professional imaging format. Browsers, phones and most web forms have never supported it. Converting to JPG solves that.
How much smaller will the JPG be?
Usually 10 to 50 times smaller, depending on how the TIFF was compressed. Uncompressed TIFFs shrink the most.
Can I convert every page of a multi-page TIFF?
Not yet — the first page is exported and we tell you when others exist. Multi-page export is planned.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in JavaScript and WebAssembly inside your own browser. Open your devtools, switch to the Network tab and run a conversion — there is no upload request to see. Closing the tab clears the working session.
